In response to Maitreya’s plea for a Dharma teaching that could offer great blessings for the future, the Blessed One imparted this powerful mantra to protect against sickness, harmful spirits, and epidemics:
—E-MA-HO PEN-NO PEN-NO SOHA—
The Buddha said: “There is no doubt that copying, reciting and having faith in this will bring freedom from the blood-filled ocean of suffering that is saṃsāra.”
Embrace Protection: The Power of a Blessed Mantra Wristband
As we approach uncertain times, ancient wisdom guides us to prepare and protect ourselves. The Blessed One, in his profound compassion, foresaw the suffering and challenges that future generations would face. His teachings emphasize the importance of protective symbols and practices.
"Sons and daughters of noble family should keep on their bodies this text which guards against and remedies these forms of sickness and harmful influence."
Prophecies foretell significant crises, including war, disease, and environmental disasters, particularly in the Iron Dog Year of 2030. In response, the Buddha’s teachings suggest using powerful mantras to help guard against these adversities.
Why This Mantra Wristband is Crucial
The mantra Emaho, p’en no p’en no svāhā is recommended for protection and to alleviate suffering. Wearing the wristband, with males on the right side and females on the left, is believed to offer spiritual and physical protection. Reciting, copying, and having faith in this mantra is thought to help alleviate the suffering of samsāra and guard against future calamities.
Blessed Mantra Wristband for Protection
“Outwardly, the mantra E-ma-ho pen-no pen-no soha has specific meanings: E-MA-HO means ‘How Marvelous!’ PEN-NO means ‘may it be beneficial,’ and SOHA means ‘so be it.’ Inwardly, I have discovered a potential link between this mantra and the protector deity Mahakali (Palden Lhamo). The name Palden Lhamo has sometimes been translated as Penden Hamo, which may explain the use of ‘pen-no’ in the mantra.
By invoking this mantra, we seek the blessings and protection of Mahakali (Pen-No), who is revered for her powerful guardianship. While this connection has not been definitively proven, I am awaiting further confirmation from my teacher.
Each wristband that I created has been blessed with ritual smoke offerings (white and red sur), carrying the potential benefits of the mantra and additional blessings with you. For added potency, consider having it blessed by your teacher.
