Self-Gratification

Desire comes in when you want to see someone happy. When that person is happy, then you feel happy because the activities you have engaged in to make him happy are, in a sense, done for yourself rather than for the other person. You would like him happy. An enlightened being has no such attitude. Whenever someone requires his help, he just gives it; there is no self gratification or self congratulation involved.

當你想看到一個人快樂時，慾望就此出現。當那個人快樂時，你也會感到快樂，因爲你所從事的讓他快樂的活動，從某種意義上說，是爲自己而不是爲別人做的。你會喜歡他快樂的。一個証悟的人沒有這樣的態度。每當有人需要他的幫助，他就給予幫助；不涉及自滿或自我祝賀。
